ENLARGEMENT OF BELL NOB #2 RESERVOIR, BELL NOB GOLF COURSE, GILLETTE, WY

Campbell County Department of Public Works

Lowham Walsh was contracted by Campbell County Department of Public Works to provide design recommendations, permitting assistance, and construction oversight for the Enlargement of Bell Nob #2 reservoir at the Bell Nob Golf Course in Gillette, Wyoming.  Enlarging the existing Bell Nob #2 reservoir required breach and removal of the Bell Nob #1 dam embankment. Permitting was obtained through the Wyoming State Engineer’s Office under the jurisdiction of the Safety of Dams Division.  Design recommendations included specifications for installation of a 40-mil HDPE liner.  Lowham Walsh worked closely with Campbell County during design of the 164 acre-foot irrigation facility, and with the Wyoming State Engineer’s office during the permitting process.  The project scope was expanded to include a breach analysis and associated flood routing in order to develop a hazard classification as required by Safety of Dams.  Breach analysis and flood routing were conducted using HEC-RAS modeling software produced by the US Army Corps of Engineers.  Lowham Walsh conducted daily inspection and in-situ field density testing during construction, and performed the post-construction survey and drafting required for completion of the permit process.
